Registration information will follow:

The purpose of this course is to enable officials to acquire basic skills to officiate safe, enjoyable competition. The course covers referee priorities, game knowledge and management and an introduction to the Laws. There will be class work and rugby activity, so wear suitable clothing and shoes.

Prior to the Course:
- Participants must complete the RugbyReady module at http://www.irbpassport.com and bring that certificate to the class.
- Enrollees are expected to take the online Laws Exam prior to attending. (http://www.irblaws.com/EN/) After successfully completing the exam, please print and bring the IRB certificate to the course. This will count as completion of the laws exam requirement, however participants will still be required to complete an in class safety exam.

Banquet

Our annual banquet will be held on January 28 at FW Sullivans (409 William St, Fredericksburg, VA, 22401) Gents should wear shirt and tie and pants with shoes, at a minimum. Ladies can wear whatever they want and however much they want to wear. Costs will be coming shortly.

Annual General Meeting (AGM)

The AGM will be held on 12/06/2011 at 6:30 pm in Lafayette Elementary School room 226. The address is 3 Learning Lane, Fredericksburg, VA 22401. For those of you who don't do GPS, it is off of RT 1, south of Rt 3 and across from the Cadillac Dealer (Old Saturn Dealership) and old Eastern Motors Dealership ("At Eastern Motors, your job's your credit" (Camera sweeps to Clin' Po'tis). Be there and help shape the next year of your club or don't show then complain about everything and anything.

Winterfest

Winterfest is an annual 7's rugby tournament put on by Buffalo Rugby Club(BRC) they have men's and women's brackets. I bet you have guessed by now yes you play in the snow. They get a good turnout for this every year. Looking for a 7's side to go up to Buffalo for the weekend of February 18th the tournament is held all day Saturday. Just trying to get a feel on who may be interested in going. I hope to be healed up by this time so i can play. more info to come i have already talked to BRC and they look forward to having us if we can get a side together.

Considering how our lineouts have been going this season, it might benefit the team if we can attend this. I'd be willing to go if others are. Post here if you think you can make it.

Luke Gross earned 62 caps for the USA between 1996 and 2003. Luke started his rugby career far later than most international players, not taking up the sport seriously until age 24, after he had played basketball at Marshall University. He began his rugby career with the Cincinnati Wolfhounds and has played professional rugby in England, Italy and Wales. He is now the USA Rugby Lineout Specialist and the forwards coach for the USA Women's National Team.

The Rugby Academy is an independent rugby development program for high school rugby players in the DC/Maryland/Virginia area. The goal of the Rugby Academy is to prepare high school players to go on to play rugby in college. In addition, The Rugby Academy has a goal to provide coaching education for coaches of players of all levels in the region. The Rugby Academy is now starting its fourth year. Level 1 Rugby Referee course - Sunday, 11/13

Guys - another Referee course is taking place in November. The youth section of the club will need referees during the summer of 2012, so anyone who is interested please let me know and we'll get you on the course.

The Referee Society of Virginia is hosting a Level 1 Rugby Referee course on Sunday, November 13 in Hampton, Virginia. If you ever wanted to referee, this is the course you must take. It will run 9AM – 5PM.

The cost is $50 and includes all materials, red and yellow cards, whistle, wrist lanyard, and law book. The course will be taught by Jeffrey Anderson and Les Anderton. The course fee will be refunded to one person per VRU club when you referee one B match.
